Our discussion this week will center around DNA evidence and the death penalty. Many individuals are against the death penalty, but one fact that as former police officers point is that the executed person never commits another crime again, so it must work. But I am sure you have your own opinion and views. This week I want you to review at least two Web sites, I will provide two. These Web sites relate to the use or misuse of evidence in court cases and the possibility of DNA evidence allowing those on death row to go free. After reviewing these sites you will understand that the court system is not the clear cut process that we all had hope we would encounter. Still the issue cannot be ignored, the system is filled with a lot of individuals who are trying to live outside the rules in our society.

DNA has become an essential part of the criminal justice system. In your opinion, should we, as citizens, expect criminals to go free just on the basis of DNA or should the proper police work and procedure continue to take precedent over the process? Justify your answer and use examples when possible.
