ANSWER BY COURSE HERO:

The grandfather of a good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He has inspired to dig deeper behind Alzheimer's and the triggers that can exacerbate this horrific disease in a person's life. Mr. Carlton is a 65 year-old male with an unremarkable medical history. He does not smoke and would drink wine, occasionally. His last visitation to his PCP, his vital signs were stable: blood pressure 135/80 mmhg, HR 70bpm, and BMI 27. According to the family history, his father had suffered from Alzheimer's disease and later passed away.

The definition of Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disorder, affecting brain cells, which will eventually result to memory loss, change in behaviour, thinking and will affect the language skills. People with apolipoprotein E gene are at great risk of developing late on set of Alzheimer's disease. This condition comes as a result of genetic mutation which is inherited from parents and this may be irreversible. This may result to loss of neurons in the brain, which results to the death of the nerves cells. Children whose parent carries a genetic mutation for early onset of familial Alzheimer disease the probability of developing this disease the chances are 50/50.

Age is a risk factor of this disease whereby people who suffer from this condition are of 65 years and above. Family history is a predisposing factor to this disease whereby a parent , sister or a brother who had suffer from Alzheimer they are likely to develop this condition. Genetic factor those people with deterministic genes will automatically inherit and develop the disorder this is because of gene coding of the three proteins; amyloid precursor protein, presenilin-1 and two.

People with the medical history of migraine and memory loss are at risk of developing Alzheimer disease. Women are at a higher risk of developing, because cases of migraine and Alzheimer are stronger in women than men. Those people who suffered from depression are also likely to develop Alzheimer.
