Requirements for written assignments:
1. Most assignments include a minimum required number of sources (beyond the textbook). The required sources are to be recent (dated within the last 5 years) and from scholarly or acceptable outside sources. Acceptable sources are scholarly manuscripts written by scholars or professionals with expertise in the field. They are usually peer-reviewed and sometimes present research results. Sources are to be cited within the text in APA style, referenced in APA style, AND you must include a hyperlink (if available) to view the source.
2. Format your assignments as instructed using APA style. Typically, in Word (.doc or .docx) with double-spacing, one-inch margins, Times New Roman, 12 point font, and include headings and subheadings, references, page numbers, and a title page (with the course name and number, your topic, your name, and the date of submission).
3. Develop your assignments with clear syntax, correct grammar, and spelling. Avoid using bullets and lists whenever possible. Instead, explain and elaborate using complete sentences and paragraphs.
4. Follow instructions to submit to your assignments to the appropriate tab in your assignment folder in the file format requested (for example, Word docx, .doc, .pdf, .rtf) with file name LastName_FirstName_HRMN302_AssignmentName.

Intercultural Communication Paper (35 points) Outcome 3 -
This assignment demonstrates your professional writing skills as well as your intercultural communication competency.
First, read The Theory Behind the INCA Instrument about the different dimensions of intercultural competency and what they mean. Then complete the INCA Survey. When you are done, use the Intercultural Competence Scoresheet to analyze your results. (Note that a total score for the INCA survey is not important for the purpose of this assignment.)
The assignment consists of two parts:
Part 1:
After completing the INCA survey and analysis, develop a one-page reflection summarizing your ideas.
Part 2:
Select 3 critical incidents and analyze them. Frame your analysis of each incident using the six dimensions of cultural competence from the INCA theory and survey. Your analysis should contain at least three scholarly references that pertain directly to the incident. Your analysis should be complete and supported by the literature not an opinion.
Complete both parts in a formal written paper using APA format. Use headings to mark each part: Part 1 and Part 2. Use subheadings to indicate the discussion of each critical incident. Please review the requirements for all written assignments on page 3 of the syllabus.
Optional: include a chart or graph to support your written analysis. Just be sure to explain the information presented in the chart or graph.
INCA is an acronym for Intercultural Competency Assessment. The purpose of the INCA survey is for you to examine your intercultural awareness and assess your cultural sensitivity. This activity is designed to help you become aware of your own attitude towards cultural diversity. The dimensions of cultural competence measured by the INCA survey are:1) Tolerance of ambiguity, 2) Behavioral flexibility, 3) Communicative awareness, 4) Knowledge discovery, 5) Respect for Otherness, and 6) Empathy.
