Orbital Mechanic Report Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to establish a self-learning skill of analyzing a space problem, evaluating the results, and explaining them clearly. Recent optical observations have identified millions of small asteroids. While a few of them have been observed and visited in detail, most of them are not still clearly investigated. A key issue is that because many of them are far away from the Earth, it is difficult for us to observe them from the Earth or to visit them directly. In terms of a part of visiting such asteroids, it is challenging to establish a decent trajectory that allows a mission explorer to approach them with a reasonable amount of fuel.

Question: This project is to design a reasonable trajectory to asteroid 1998 EH56 with considerable fuel consumption. The orbital element of this asteroid is given in Figure 1. The goal is to evaluate if this asteroid can be approachable, by computing the minimum amount of fuel and the trajectory that is achieved by that fuel amount. When computing the total change in the velocity, evaluate if this velocity is feasible using our current rocket-launch capability. Use not only the topics discussed in the course but also any official knowledge that can be found. The Mission duration is from 2020 to 2100.

Any techniques are allowed to design the trajectory to 1998 EH56. All the knowledge in the class will be useful for this project. Also, available systems include.
