Objectives:
Students are encouraged to work with an Email Messaging system. Combination of practical/research based where students work independently providing evidence into the topic and providing critical evaluation of the topic.
Outcomes:
- Install and configure Microsoft exchange server.
- Manage Microsoft exchange stores and storage groups.
- Configure SMTP and message routing.
- Install and configure MS Outlook.
Task 1:
The messaging system is upgrading by the years to improve the features on it. There is Organization are upgrading the operating systems from Microsoft to free open source rather than other paid operating System, as you are the network administration and you need to migrate the Exchange server 2010 to open source system mail messaging system, which one you will recommend to use and what are the features in the open source that you select.
a) Literature review for the messaging system open source and exchange server.
b) Macke comparison between the Exchange server 2010 and the open source you select it.
c) The comparison base on (Security, Unified messaging system, client application, Operating System, database).
Task 2:
This report is related to lab implementation report, which consists of installation and configuration of Exchange server 2010/2013. The lab report should include installation steps and configuration steps of exchange server and client in two different independent Operating system for successful client server communication between exchange server and client.
a) Install and configure Microsoft Exchange Server 2013/2010 on windows server 2012/2010/2008 your implementation model should consist of TWO servers (One Active Directory and One Exchange server) and an independent client. Ensure the client server communication between exchange server and client via email transfer.
b) A Viva-voce exam will be conducted on 14th academic week in which technical questions related to the implementation will be asked. Students need to be well aware about their respective implementations and mail server implementation concepts in general.
