Ask Operation Management Expert

Now that you've got the operational scope identified, it's time to take the next step. Write a summary of the staffing needs for your divisions.

This challenge will be critical to the grant proposal because staffing represents a major expenditure for any organization.

Also, identifying and selecting the right people is essential for your division to meeting the goals stated in the grant proposal.

Just like the firstchallenge, the more thorough and precise you are in completing this task, the more likely you are to secure funds. Make sure to write a  compelling summary that promotes the possible impact while also providing objective information as support.

Please submit a 2-3 page Executive Summary detailing the following:

• Human Resources Plan for your division, which details:

o Who do you need on your team? (What types of positions and how many?)

o What specifications, if any, are needed for each position? (e.g., certificates, KSAs, background checks)

o What does an excellent candidate look like for each position?

o How much do we need to pay for each position?

o When do we need each position? (e.g., schedule)

o Where can you recruit for each position?

• Staffing Plan, including:

o List of position titles

o Number (of hours and people) required of each position

o Hourly/salary rate per position

o Identification of exempt/non-exempt status for each position

o Total amount needed for each position (e.g., rate x hours x number in each position)

• List of Assumptions

Additionally, organize and submit supporting documents must be included in appendices (labeled Appendix A - Appendix F) after your summary.

These documents will provide support for your staffing plan and be linked with the who, what, what, how, when, where for your position details listed above. Make sure to provide enough supporting documentation in the appendices so the explanations in the summary are clear.

Make sure to use outside publications that help build your staffing plan. .

The formatting requirements are as follows:

• Single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman Font, with 1" margins

• Use full sentences and paragraphs, be well-written and organized

• Use section headings, which must be bolded and in 12-point font

• The entire submission should be in one document.

• The Executive Summary, Index of Appendices as well as each Appendix should start at the top of its own page (hint: utilize page breaks).

• Original work is required; cite sources, if applicable, in APA format.
