A. Imagine that you are thinking of starting a restaurant in your community.
1. Who will be the stakeholders in this business?
2. How will you establish good relationships with your employees? With your suppliers?
3. Do you see any conflict between your desire to be as profitable as possible and your desire to pay your employees a competitive wage? Explain.
B. Identify 5 businesses in your local area that provide services. List these businesses and describe for each how social trends might affect them in both positive and negative ways. Explain your descriptions.
C.On a piece of paper draw a horizontal line. On one end write "capitalism" and on the other end write "central planning". Indicate in writing where you place the U.S.

D. Many people say that business people do not do enough for society. Some students choose to go into the public sector instead of business because they want to help others. Business people, on the other hand, say that they do more to help people than nonprofit groups because they provide jobs and create all of the wealth that nonprofits distribute. Based on your reading in this class and your experience, is there a middle ground to show that both business people and those who work for the nonprofit organizations contribute to society and need to work more closely to help people? Explain your answer. In what ways would the concepts espoused by Adam Smith illustrate your position?
