Assignment Description

The assignment consists of two parts. Part-1 is concerned with creating an animation using Adobe Flash and part-2 is concerned with editing video and audio using the Movie Maker.

Part-1

All images required for this part can be found in "Assignment2\Assignment2_107.zip" folder in Moodle:
a. 10 images of digits (0.jpg to 9.jpg)
To complete the animation, you will also need to incorporate the following images:
a. Your collage created as part 2 of assignment-1
b. A background image. If it is taken from the Internet, please provide a reference for it.
c. A photograph of yourself (you can use just your neat head or half body)

The animation must be 600 pixels wide by 400 pixels high, with a Peach Puff background (#FFDAB9), and run at 15 frames per second.

The animation must display the following events, at the specified times, as illustrated in the sample solution (each numbered figure must fill the entire screen). The different components must be entering and leaving the screen simultaneously: Please note all the layers containing images MUST be appropriately re-named - e.g. hometown instead of layer1, 2, ...3.

Time

Animation

0-2 seconds

Statically displays your completed collage from the part 2 of assignment-1. The collage should be resized to 300 × 200 pixels and located at mid-left side of the stage. At the same time your neatly cut head emerges from top right corner and sits next to the right of your static collage.

2-4 seconds

The image of collage moves towards right of the stage and your head (beneath your collage) moves to upper left corner of the stage. At the same time an image of the first digit in your student number moves in from the top left corner to fill the stage.

4-6 seconds

The first digit moves off the left edge of the stage. The image of the second digit moves in from bottom of the stage at locked width of 50 pixel and scales up to fill in the stage while performing a double clock- wise rotation.

6-8 seconds

The second digit slides off the left edge of the screen. The image of the third digit fades in to take its place

8-10 seconds

The third digit remains still and fades out as the image of the fourth digit fades in to take its place.

10-12 seconds

The fourth digit moves off the right edge of the screen whilst performing a single clockwise rotation and fading. The image of the fifth digit moves in from the top right corner of the screen.

12-14 seconds

The fifth digit moves off the bottom left corner of the screen, The image of the sixth digit moves in from the top of the screen at scale 50px width, whilst performing a triple counter clockwise rotation, fading in and increasing in size to fill the screen.

14-16 seconds

The sixth digit shrinks to 5 sided polygon with the background of original image (this is technically known as shape tweening)

16-18 seconds

The shrunk 6th digit rolls off to right edge of stage performing a double anti-clockwise rotation as your background image fades in to fill the stage.

18-20 seconds

Roll the credits! Have the following text move up from off screen from bottom to top showing:

  • your name;
  • your student number;
  • An acknowledgement of your tutor;
  • a static photographic image of yourself.

Write a report in word file with proper referencing that shows how the animation work was carried out. Please include screen shots to make the explanation clear.

You must submit the saved files for animation .fla and published .swf.

Part-2

This part consists of editing a video with soundtrack, based on video files provided to you and your own recorded audios of your ID numbers (for example when the clip of your first ID plays it should speak out "one").

The file animationForA2.mp4 is provided as a source material. You will have to create a movie using Movie Maker Live containing the following elements.

A title screen consisting of dark blue text on light blue background, with Movie Maker's ‘Swing Down' effect listing the following information:

- unit code and name
- assignment number
- your name
- your student number

A series of animated clips extracted from animationForA2.mp4, arranged so as to display the digits of your student number in a sequence (exclude the prefix MIT). Each clip should be accompanied by the name of the digit being spoken (recorded by you). You should use the following transitions between each clip, with each transition being as close to 1 second in length as possible:

- 1st and 2nd digit: Zig Zag Vertical
- 2nd and 3rd digit: Whirlwind from top
- 3rd and 4th digit: Split Horizontal
- 4th and 5th digit: Eye
- 5th and 6th digit: Stars

For Credits, use Dark Green text on light Green background, listing the producer, director, and stunt person as yourself all in one frame. Provide ‘Fly in right' effect for the credit. For both credit and title please use any "Serif" Font that comes with Movie Maker. Save your movie both as a Movie Maker project file, and as movie file as .wlmp and .mp4 respectively.

Finally, write a report to demonstrate your understanding of the video and audio task using Movie Maker. Also include the screen shots.
