Mini Paper: Male and Female Leaders

There are four Web exercises in this course, each requiring you to submit a paper.

Either visit a website that is listed or select one and answer specific questions given in the instructions.Web Exercise #3 is due at the end of Module 5 and deals with diversity in an organization's mission and vision statements. Follow the instructions given below to complete the exercise:

1. Select a business and visit its homepage.

2. Locate and review information on the mission and vision statements pertaining to the company's diversity philosophy and practices.

3. Prepare a paper based on the following structure and content:
a. A title page and table of contents page.

b. An introduction that identifies the company you have selected and provides a brief synopsis of its stated commitment to diversity

c. A background section that briefly describes the mission and vision statements and the way the company's commitment to diversity is represented by these and through specific types of practices/programs/initiatives.

d. An analysis that ties course material to an evaluation of the company's written material on diversity and the way it is managed and valued.

For example, Kellogg's stated vision is to be the "food company of choice" (www.kelloggcompany.com). While there is no mention of diversity in this vision statement, Kellogg's mission statement is "to drive sustainable growth through the power of people and brands by better serving the needs of our consumers, customers, and communities" (www.kelloggcompany.com).

e. The statement mentions the "power of their people" and meeting the needs of major stakeholders, and further research into the website reveals a section on values (k-values), several of which allude to valuing the diversity of the company's workforce. A section on "our diversity" clearly makes the link between values and Kellogg's commitment to diversity.

f. A conclusion that summarizes the main points of your findings and reflects on how genuine you think the company is in its stated commitment to diversity and the reasons for your perception.

g. A reference section that lists the website and the course material you used in preparing this assignment. Be sure to cite sources within your paper, using correct APA formatting.

Your work should be in a Word document, 2-3 pages in length (excluding the title, the table of contents and the references pages),

typed double-space in 10- or 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font. The page margins on the top, bottom, left side, and right side should be 1 inch each.

Use APA guidelines for citing and referencing sources.
