Marketing managers obtain considerable information from customer surveys and feedback from their websites. Any item purchased on a company website is entered in a database by item and product class and this information can then be drilled down by customer zip code, state and sex. Also the number of times a customer has used a website and dollar volume of each purchase. When I use my local CVS pharmacy card the company captures all this type of information and then can tailor their mailings to each customer by purchase pattern. Have any of you ever received a coupon in the mail and thought that it was great since it contained an item you actually used? Why do you think that happened?
