1. Using this week's lesson and article by DeVany as a start, locate three research studies that deal with the management of people with their individual differences and diverse personalities. Use online, peer-reviewed journal research (case study research is preferred) to inform your writing. Summarize the takeaways from the articles that can support greater skill in managing people.

2. You have been called upon to manage in a department that has two long-term assistants in place, Charlie Carefree and Sandy Scrooge. Neither of these assistant managers has been effective in increasing value and profits in the department. Charlie is glad you are the new boss, but Sandy feels threatened. Charlie wants to implement a new approach to increasing services offered by the department, but Sandy wants to hold steady with status quo because of cost concerns. Charlie has some great ideas and wants to modify the business plan, but Sandy thinks that change could be disruptive unless it is necessary, and concludes that you should just play it by ear and see what happens. Sandy is also beginning to wonder to herself about the owner's judgment in asking you to take over this department, and wonders why she was not asked.
