MANAGE OPERATIONAL PLAN ASSIGNMENT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation's productivity and profitability plans.

Management at a strategic level requires systems and procedures to be developed and implemented to facilitate the organisation's operational plan.

This unit applies to individuals who manage the work of others and operate within the parameters of a broader strategic and/or business plan.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment 1 - Written questions

Why do I need to do this assessment?

The purpose of this assessment is to ensure that the required performance and knowledge evidence has been demonstrated.

Who will complete this assessment?

All students undertaking the unit BSBMGT517 Manage operational plan are required to complete this assessment.

When this assessment will take place?

The tasks are to be completed throughout the duration of the unit. This assessment must be successfully completed and deemed "Achieved" by the end of the unit.

Where is the location of this assessment?

This assessment is to be carried out at a DNA Kingston Training campus. 

What is this assessment?

You are expected to provide neatly typed answers to the provided questions.

Indicate:

  • your name, student number and unit title on the top left-hand corner of every page;
  • the assignment question number beside each answer; and
  • the page number on the bottom right corner of every page.

How will I be assessed?

Your lecturer will assess you using a marking guide. Assessment for this unit is competency based.  This means that you need to demonstrate your performance / knowledge evidence to the standard required in the workplace.

All students are to be advised of reassessment opportunities and/or review appeal mechanisms where you have the opportunity to challenge the assessment procedures and/or assessment decisions.

1.1 - Identify resource requirements (human and physical) for your business.

Document any research that you have done. If the research is from the Internet, include the URL and date accessed.

Develop an operational plan for your business, including objectives. What legislation and/or regulations do you have to consider in developing your plan?

1.2 - Explain the consultation process that you will undertake in developing your operational plan.

1.3 - Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure organisational performance of your operational plan.

1.4 - Develop a contingency plan for an area of non-performance. Include an action plan for its implementation.

1.5 - Identify the sources of information for resource requirements identified in question 1, including any specialist advice if required.

1.6 - Explain the process you will undertake to:

  • obtain approval for your plan with relevant stakeholders; and
  • communicate the plan to your work teams

2.1 & 2.2 - Refer to your resource requirements in your operational plan. Create an action plan to ensure that there are sufficient human and physical resources (including any required services) in your organisation to carry out the operational plan.

2.3 - Explain any intellectual property rights and responsibilities that you need to be aware of in your findings for question 6.

3.1 - How will you monitor performance systems and processes to ensure that your objectives are being met?

3.2 - Develop a budget, including timelines, to monitor performance of operational plan.

3.3 - Identify an area of possible under performance of your action plan. What can you do to rectify the situation?

3.4 - Explain a strategy you can use to ensure that mentoring and coaching are provided to support individuals and teams to effectively, economically and safely use resources.

3.6 - Explain how you would manage records and performance documents in accordance with operational requirements.

Why do I need to do this assessment?

The presentation is an assessment of your ability to interpret and explain your operational plan to your stakeholders, including negotiating for variations and gaining approval. This assessment will demonstrate the criteria for elements1.6 and 3.5.

Who will complete this assessment?

All students undertaking the unit BSBMGT517 Manage operational plan will complete this assessment.

When will this assessment take place?

The assessment may commence after completion of question 8 in Assessment 2.

Where is the location of this assessment?

The assessment will be undertaken in a DNA Kingston Training campus.

What is this assessment?

You will develop a presentation to explain your operational plan, negotiate recommendations for variations and gain stakeholder approval. This presentation will need to be at least fifteen (15) minutes in duration.

How will I be assessed?

Your assessor will assess the presentation using a marking guide, which is provided.

Assessment for this unit is competency based.  This means that you need to demonstrate your performance / knowledge evidence to the standard required in the workplace.

All students are to be advised of reassessment opportunities and/or review appeal mechanisms where you have the opportunity to challenge the assessment procedures and/or assessment decisions.

Instructions to students:

  • Using suitable visual and/or audio aids, present your operational plan to all relevant parties and ensure understanding of performance requirements and timeframes.
  • In the presentation, you are to allow time to engage with the audience to seek clarification of understanding, gather feedback and gain approval of your plan.

You have at least fifteen (15) minutes for this presentation.
