M7A2: PowerPoint Presentation Annotated Bibliography

Submit an annotated bibliography upon which your voiceover PowerPoint presentation is to be based. This will act as the foundation of your research and guide your presentation. Annotated bibliographies also gather the reference materials and help summarize the articles, books, etc. you will be using in your presentation.

Submit an annotated bibliography with at least seven (7) valid sources that you will use as the basis for your presentation.

"Cultural Diversity"

People from many different cultures with different values, faiths, and sets of beliefs call the US home. Diverse perspectives allow for a variety of approaches to problem solving, testing and developing new ideas, and cultural expressions such as art and music. One of the reasons why the US has a well-developed policy of freedom of speech is to promote communication among a variety of people with different experiences.

Problems can arise when unfair bias prevents a person from looking fairly at the evidence before planning. Since impartiality and fairness are the ideals of the justice system, this can cause the system to break down. A good concept that is seen a lot is in police and profiling. Racial profiling uses stereotypes to influence judgement rather than facts. This occurs a lot in law enforcement, and it involves assumptions about the character of individuals based on their culture or skin color. People of color and members of other cultures are the target of profiling because people are influenced based on their own past experiences or the experiences of others.

Police Officers make decisions based on stereotype about how people of color earn their money. This behavior can become a problem when the police officer spends time asking questions or arresting an otherwise innocent person. This situation can become deadly if the police officer assumes that any actions taken by this individual will be violent.

This diversity issue has been happening for a very long time in the criminal justice system. I think is needs to be a change to make the law enforcement and criminal justice system better in the US. As years goes by it has become worse versus better. I think is something everyone needs to address and focus to make a change and treat everyone with respect regardless of what crime they may or may not have committed.
