Literature Review
General Information
The purpose of this assignment is to focus on a particular question or issue relevant to contemporary ICT by gathering, summarising and reflecting on selected literature. What you learn in this assignment should inform your thinking in the second written assignment due later in the term.
You need to reference external material other than the textbook in order to complete this assignment successfully. Use Harvard format for all citations and the annotated bibliography.
If you are unsure what an annotated bibliography is or looks like, then take steps to find out before you start.
Instructions
- Read assignment 2 instructions, case study and questions.
- In this literature review you will NOT be answering the questions in assignment
2. You will research, find and annotate the literature on the topics of the questions in assignment 2.
- You are to research, identify, and discuss literature on the topics of assignment 2 questions. For example in question 1 the topics are;
Supply chain management (SCM) informations systems Business processes
- You need to identify the research topics for the other questions
- After researching and reading several good general articles on the topics, ensuring that you understand the topics, and then select four (4) distinct pieces of literature - one piece per question.
- Next, present your findings for each source in the form of an annotated bibliography. In your discussion, in your own words, you need to:
1. Explain the technology identified in the reading.
2. Clearly summarize what the article's author is saying about it.
3. Explain why it is relevant to the question.
Requirements
The literature must be relevant and current (no more than 5 years old). Literature may be sourced from trade (industry) articles, technology-specific news websites, and scholarly journals. Use the many industry databases of literature available from the CQU library to source good references. The textbook for this course cannot be used as a source.
Some sources are not acceptable as reference sources in research tasks. Unacceptable websites include general encyclopedic sites such as Wikipedia, and the numerous student study sites that publish papers in various school or university study categories, or that sell solution papers to students. Likewise, general encyclopedias, popular (non--- industry) magazines and daily newspapers are not considered to be suitable references in research tasks.
Each annotation should begin with the full bibliographic details, in Harvard format, of the source. This is followed by your discussion as described in "Instructions". Warning: Do not simply copy or paraphrase the abstract of the article as your answer - this will not be accepted as being your own work.
If other references are cited as part of the annotation, then they should appear in a separate reference list (and in Harvard format).
Length: About 300 words for each of the four annotations, but this need not be exact. What's important is what you write, not how many words you used. Rest of the document is not counted. See the Assessment Criteria for how your work will be marked.
