Let's use motorcycles as an example. I'm assuming most individuals have seen the bike building shows on television.

Most bike shops are repetitive but if it's a shop that makes one of a kind then they are considered a job shop. It's not uncommon for companies to use more than one strategy.

For example, Orange County Choppers (Paul Teutul, Sr.) builds one of a kind custom bikes for brand name companies but also produces assembly type bikes to maintain the business.
