Legal Brief Writing Assignment and Presentation - APA Format
First, students will write one legal (case) brief (3-4 typed pages each) based on a U.S. Supreme Court Case assigned by the instructor. Second, students will create a corresponding presentation using a powerpoint format.

Component I: Written Legal Brief
Legal briefs provide a summary of cases appearing before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Students will learn how to assess and communicate the:
a) facts,
b) issues,
c) rationales, and
d) judicial opinions of Supreme Court Cases impacting student affairs practice in higher education.
Component 2: Corresponding Visual Presentation Using a Powerpoint or Wiki Format
Students will create a corresponding visual presentation to highlight the major components of their Written Legal Brief Assignment.
Thus, your presentation should include the:
a) facts,
b) issues,
c) rationales, and
d) judicial opinions of the Supreme Court Case and its impact on student affairs practice in higher education.
Component 2: PRESENTATION Format and Guidelines:
Students will report and summarize the information for Components One of this assignment in the form of a powerpoint presentation.
The powerpoint presentation should be a minimum of 12 slides to a maximum of 20 slides with no more than 7 lines of text per slide. Please use no smaller than a 20 point font.
Presentations should be visually appealing and creative. Thus, please seek to include images and other forms of media.
