Directions: This activity will help you prepare for future employment by modeling and imitating behaviors that are identified as standard practices for successful interviewing.

  1. Prepare for your interview.
    1. The social learning theory of Bandura emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. Since most behavior is learned through observing others, we store this information for future guidance and actions. When answering the questions below, identify how and when social learning was part of the experience.
    2. In Week 3, you inventoried your skills and compared them with the skills needed for a job posting that you selected. Revisit this list, reflect, and make notes to in preparation to discuss your strengths and skills during your interview to market yourself. Write a few sentences in a Word document about the visions you opted to implement.
    3. Research the employer you are interested in interviewing with to identify important company information, including their mission and their vision. Write the information you find in a Word document.
    4. Complete your skills inventory and determine how you will present yourself based on your research about the employer. Update your skills inventory in the same document that contains your employer research.
    5. Polish and rehearse your elevator speech so you can articulate your abilities on a moment's notice. In your Word document, write what you did to polish your elevator speech. For example, did you add more content about your skills? Shorten or lengthen your speech?
