1. The ‘core business' & relevant background details of the organisation, key products or services, type(s) of customers targeted & location(s) of organisation

2. Indicators of organisation's size: market share, financial information, staff numbers

B - Organisation's focus & structure

1. Discuss the adequacy of the organisation's mission statement to provide effective ‘focus' for the organisation. Justify your assessment. If the organisation does not have a mission statement, develop one & outline why this would be an effective ‘mission'.

2. Discuss how effective the organisation's structure appears to be in terms of enabling the organisation to achieve its mission. Focus your discussion on assessing whether the organisation appears to be more organic or mechanistic - Is this appropriate and what changes would you recommend.

Part 2 - Environmental Analysis

1. Describe the culture of the organisation - justify this by identifying the indicators that helped you determine what the culture is. (5) Then, discuss whether you think this culture helps the organisation operate effectively, or is unhelpful to the organisation.

2. Explain five (5) specific mega-environment factors that you believe have a major influence on this organisation. Are these opportunities or threats? Use specific examples to support your assessment.

3. Explain the three (3) specific task environment factors that you believe have the greatest influence on this organisation. Are these opportunities or threats? Use specific examples to support your assessment.

Part 3 - Leadership

1. Explain one leadership theory & discuss the practical implications of this theory in a workplace.

2. Select one leader in your organisation & discuss the extent to which she / he appears to follow this theory. Justify your assessment by identifying what aspects of her / his leadership are effective & what aspects could be changed to be more effective. Note: if you cannot get specific insight into a particular leader, then discuss how you believe a leader in this situation should behave.

Part 4 - Motivation

1. Explain one theory of motivation & discuss the practical implications of this theory in a workplace.

2. Discuss the extent to which this organisation appears to use this theory to motivate staff. Justify your assessment by identifying what the organisation appears to do effectively & what could be changed to be more effective. Note: if you cannot get specific insight into what the organisation does, then discuss what you believe this organisation should be doing to motivate staff.

Report Presentation

1. Executive Summary - this should summarise the key points from all four sections of the report. Place this Summary at the front of the report.

2. Formatting - write your report with correct spelling & grammar - and in a consistent style. The report must be clearly laid out with each Part (1 - 4) answered on a new page. Use 11-12 pt type, on one side of the page only - NO plastic folders are required. While there is no specific word limit, it is estimated this assignment should be approximately 10 - 12 pages.

3. Referencing - you must use APA format correctly in the text & cited in full in the reference list.
