It is of great importance to acknowledge that proper communication between the community members and law enforcement agencies is important in terms of reducing deviant behaviors among the youth.Lack of communication plays a crucial role in fueling formation of gangs and engagement in other criminal related behaviors.According to Higgison et al. (2016),some of the factors that contribute to crime and gang formation include drug abuse,alcohol,irresponsible sexual behaviors,peer pressure and psychological problems among the youth especially in low and middle income communities.In addition,the authors point out that communities with high rates of gangs are generally known to have little or no faith in law enforcement.Therefore to deal with this,proper communication willl play a fundamental role as well as programs that have been used worldwide to prevent such behaviors.
