1. Explain the contributions made by Muslims to the world civilisation, especially in reference to one or more historical periods from the Umayyad to the Ottomans.

2. In the light of good historical understanding of the Mu'tazilah, how do you see the influence of their thought on the modern Muslim scholarship?
