If a child is given a device, set with limitations, and with the expectation of its usage being for educational purposes, I believe that it can be beneficial to the said child.

BP 3: What should parents do to guarantee productive technology usage

  • Monitor device
  • Set time restrictions, and security restrictions especially on internet
  • Use children's settings
  • Keep a password for app store and only download games that promote education and child appropriate games
  • Inform the child of the rules and limitations
  • Check the device often

Conclusion: Giving the resource of technology is beneficial to children and their childhood. Technology is the most successful tool a parent can give to their child, it lets them tap into their imaginations, and motivates them to learn. In the right environment and correct supervision this tool can be very helpful, the device should be used with restrictions and limitations just like anything else should for a child. With a parent's close eye, a child could utilize the device and develop skills like hand eye coordination, language skills, and visual engagement, plus more. Technology completely expands the youths horizons when used efficiently.
