Introduction:

The health care function and health care sector is undergoing an adoption of the meaningful use across different nursing sectors of health care delivery. The problem is initiating the "meaningful use" in stages and alignment of the meaningful use policies that have become mandatory

Thesis:

Meaningful use of health information technology (HIT) will enable health care reform and will ensure better quality and better health at lower cost.

Approach:

In order to make meaningful use implications properly justified it is very important that the nursing professionals know of the tools that have been designed to make the electronic format successful. But the biggest challenge is the use of consistent nursing vocabulary which is often lacking, leading to bad patient outcomes as nurses are found to be not trained of use of standard vocabulary to record patient data.

The implications for quality patient outcomes and for successful use of EHRs by nurses not only should the physiological conditions of the patient be recorded in the e-format, it should also be able successfully input the descriptions of patient's illness response, history of injuries, diseases and the treatment given, and every little bit of health information that the patent may have as an antecedent.

It is important that every patient outcome from previous medical history also be available so that it enables the nurses to make the best use of clinical care interventions by supporting quality care for positive health outcomes and care of patients (Ross & Underwood, 2013).

Health care management:

Nursing interventions can make quality patient outcomes if the following are available.

1. Availability of medical orders of patent on previous and current medical history.

2. Implementing of drug and drug allergy checks in data.

3. Ensure that up to date current and active diagnosis of the patient is available.

4. The possibility of electronically transmitting of prescriptions is done.

5. Maintain an active medication and allergy list.

6. Record all demographic features as needed.

7. Record all vital signs of the patient.

8. Providing the electronic copy of patient health to not only the family but to the patients too.
