Now, think about the political parties and leadership roles you learned about in Unit 5. How do politicalparties and congressional leaders change a legislator's ability to be responsive to his or her district's median voter?
How mightthis affect the legislator's ability to get reelected? Is it better for legislators to answer to party leadership or to the median voter?Why or why not?
In the Unit 2 lecture on civil rights, you learned that the government can and does discriminate legally against certain groups.Explain the three classifications described in the lecture and explain when the government can discriminate against each.
Now,think about what you learned about the Constitution in Unit 1.
What parts of the Constitution are most relevant to issues ofgovernment discrimination? Be specific. Finally, do you think the framers of the Constitution would agree with the currentstandards on discrimination? Why or why not?
