In writing your memo, please reference the responses of other colleges and universities. In formulating your analysis, please utilize and reference having any relevant readings, either from the course or that you have encountered elsewhere in your studies. Please choose one (1) of the following topics to address in your memo:

-The Place of Confederate Monuments on a college campus. Please provide a strategy to address the current monuments that are present on your hypothetical campus. In your memo, please also be sure to address the relationship, or lack thereof to recent hate and bias incidents on campus.

- The Boundaries of Free Speech. In recent years, campuses are faced with responding to various types of "speech" from direct action and student protest to artistic expression. Please examine how best to handle various acts of speech on campus, particularly that pertaining to questions of race and ethnicity. Include in your response a discussion of recently proposed legislation that ban student disruptions and assess how this could affect your plans for your campus.

Your campus is a ticking time bomb. There are allegations of under investigated sexual assaults that have the potential to lead to multiple lawsuits. Please address how best to respond to a recent campus study that indicated that 1/4 people report having been sexually assaulted while a student. Be sure to address the recent Devos guidance on Title IX enforcement in your analysis.

Each student will select a policy-related topic of discussion that is connected to some higher education diversity controversy of particular interest and address potential solutions in a Memo to the Provost or CDO of "Best Practice University." The memorandum should identify the main issue, analyze the key challenges, outline a plan to address the controversy, and reference any relevant literature.. (5 pages)
