In service layout, it is more important to focus on multiple issues due to customer interaction. Think about a company you have extensive knowledge of, either service or manufacturing company like a restaurant, retailer, ski resort, or warehouse (Amazon), and answer the following questions. Think about the process it takes to deliver the product or service. For example, McDonalds drive through has 3 major steps the customer has interaction: order, pay, get food (and sometimes wait for product in special spaces). Parts A and B also work well with a kitchen restaurant where volume change often and multiple products are produced with the same process. If manufacturing is not your thing, then look at a major traffic intersection that you go through or see. Another example would be a gas station. I often look at the differences in layout, how could they improve? This also applies to resorts like Disney or Golf and Ski resorts. Resorts are often driven by the topography of the land and seasonal issues. Even that can be changed (Caberfae Peaks is good example). So pick a process layout and provide your views. I recommend something you are familiar with! In addition, if there is a waiting line, how is it laid out? Given demand variance, how does the waiting line "layout" change? For example area or space allocated

What is the process; describe it (for classmates to understand) in detail? A1) How many steps in the process, A2) what takes place in each step of the process. The key to process and layout is customer demand and volume variance!!!!!!

What volume of demand (or output) can the process handle given its layout? B1) How much demand variance takes place over what time? B2) Are the processes used to make other products?

Does the current process/layout handle peak demand, C1) could it handle an increase of 20% more or 50% more, C2) what changes would be necessary to handle more demand volume?

Provide a comparison (if possible) to your example in A-C. First state who the other example is, then make the comparison on A, B, and C. Which one is better and why?
