In September 2012, the New York City Board of Health approved Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposal to ban the sale of large sugary drinks in restaurants and other venues in an attempt to reduce obesity and promote more healthful living. Beginning March 12, 2013, the city will prohibit restaurants, mobile food carts, delis and concessions at movie theaters, stadiums or arenas from selling sugary drinks in cups or containers larger than 16 ounces. How do you think the various theorists (utilitarian, libertarian, Rawls) would view this ban? Should the ban be age specific--for example, no large sugary drinks sold to those under 18? Please discuss the different theories specifically.
