In chapter 12 of Terry Cooke-Davies book, Terry Williams identified a series of future research agenda items that needed to be explored in order that a better definition, understanding, capability, and training around complex projects could be developed (pp. 171-176).

Then, in the conclusion to the book, the editor and second Terry states, "Today's complexity is only expected to rise and more than half of CEOs doubt their ability to manage it." (p. 185).

What the two Terry's suggest could mean that there are substantial career opportunities ahead for a bright young person who is seeking a career in the world of project management.

The first may be to pursue an academic career and become a researcher into the unknowns of complex project management.

For surely there is fame and glory for those researchers that throw light on those unknowns?

The second may be to follow the advice of the second Terry and pursue a career that helps CEOs manage and master the complex project that they are reported to fear. And as a consequence to become rich and powerful as a practitioner?

Which are you? Are you a researcher? Or, are you a practitioner?
