Importantly, a vast majority of the members of any given criminal gang has a distorted sense of reality regarding criminal activities and their consequences.

This plays a key role in shaping their perception of crime differently. It further makes it easy for them to use lack of understanding of the consequences of crime as a justification for using pulses of violence in their pursuits (Valdez, 2011). It is important to understand that the sole aim of using violence by criminal gangs is to terrorize the target populations and instill a sense of fear to facilitate the accomplishment of their mission in a more convenient manner.

Once a member of a gang, there are a number of factors that come at play that further enhance the commission of crime. These include peer influences and persistent deviant behavior among others. The collective mentality of a gang makes it easy to commit crimes and achieve their goals. The power of collectiveness and unity makes it easy for them to commit a crime they could otherwise not have committed on their own.

There are specific objectives of any gang group. To start with is earning a reputation and especially on the negative light. Second, it's a proof of consistency and commitment to their criminal activities (Webb, 2018).

Overall, gangs are more dangerous as compared to individual criminals. Their actions sound extreme and devastating as compared to the acts of violence that are committed by specific individuals. Notably, gangs have defined tactics of attack. Take for instance terrorist activities.

They have a specific mission to achieve which is to realize as many casualties as possible. In other words, when individual members are in an organized gang, their behavior worsens and the violence they use to accomplish their mission is extreme.

1. A "distorted sense of reality"? Gangs(ters) don't know what they're doing? Or that it's criminality?
