I had pneumonia recently. The hospital took blood. One week later, received certified letter from hospital stating my blood culture is showing gram negative bacilli bacteria. I have made appt. to re-check culture. I suspect I have toxoplasmosis and am wondering if that could be the source of the gram negative bacilli. Could toxoplasmosis cause a blood culture to show a gram negative bacilli bacteria infection?
