I am writing an analytical paper on how the setting brings a character to life. I am using two short stories: Hills Like white Elephants by Ernest Hemingway and Cask of Amontillado. My thesis statement is: "The settings in both stories intricately symbolize the characters’ actions and ideals. In “Hills Like White Elephants” the two sceneries on either side of the railway represent the man and the girl's feelings while in “The Cask of Amontillado” Fortunato’s character embodies the carnival’s atmosphere, whereas Montresor is the epitome of the underground crypt. It's pretty choppy to me, any help on making it better?
