Question - How does Marshall's interest in the history of art influence his work?

Answer - Having found his passion for art at a very young age, Marshall appreciated the greatness of the Greek and Roman artists. I think what he found lacking, and what he chose to create, was African American's or black people in general becoming the center of the art, instead of not being there at all, or on the fringe or background, basically unrepresented. In creating this from his 'Memento's series, he wanted to create his own version of the Angel of Annunciation seen here so the the central figures in his art looked like him.
