High BP after losing weight?

Has anyone experienced extreme elevations in blood pressure readings as you were losing weight? My blood pressure has sky rocketed. I've lost 12 pounds. I thought losing weight actually helped with blood pressure issues. I had to be rushed to the ER because of my blood pressure this weekend. What should I do? I'm taking my medication and I've cut down on my food intake, 1200 to 1500 calories per day. I am also watching salt.
