Guidelines for Book Report and Marketplace Presentation

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT BOOK REPORT GUIDELINES

The review of leadership/managerial literature is designed to actively involve the Emerging Leader Program participants in broadening their knowledge of the fields of leadership and management development. The major objectives of this Emerging Leader Program component include:

• Enhancing each participant's sensitivity to leadership/management issues, trends, and leadership/management concepts that may impact effectiveness as leaders, managers, and supervisors, and for strengthening analytical leadership skills

• Providing a broader perspective of organizational cultures, dynamics, and climate.

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT BOOK REPORT "MARKETPLACE"

ASSIGNMENT: You will present your book report in a Marketplace setting during Week 2 (19=22 March 2018); be prepared to deliver a 10 minute presentation to a small group of your Fellows. The goal is to help them learn from and engage with you on the value of your book.

Please be sure to complete the Marketplace template located on CLD Central under Book Reports. You do not need to bring 40 copies of this! Please bring 8 copies of the completed template to share with the Fellows listening to your presentation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Book Report Format

• Use a Times New Roman, 12-pitch font, 1" left margin and 1" right margin.

• Double-spaced.

• Do not use footnotes at the bottom of the page, but use standard APA formatting. For information regarding APA references style.

• Book Review should be no less than 3 pages in length and no more than 5 pages.

Emerging Leaders Program - Pacific Leadership Academy (current year)

The book review must include the following information:

• Book title, author's name, publisher, and publication date;

• Major leadership/management concepts discussed; and

• A discussion of the significance of the book's concepts and applications to your work/life experience and learning;

• Your critical analysis of the author's work, what you liked and why, what you disliked and why, and your overall opinions about the content.
