Governance and Risk Management Internal Assessment

Groups

Students must organise themselves into groups of 3 persons who are all in the same tutorial class. As students have been working in groups throughout the semester, it is likely that your tutorial presentation group will involve persons from these discussion groups. Please note that your tutor will not allocate you into a group and it is your responsibility to arrange yourself into a group (you are welcome to post on LMS to help form a group).

Topics

Students are welcome to choose their own topics for the presentation, however:

1. Topics must directly relate to concepts in ACC3GRM1 - you are welcome to choose from topics (or parts of topics) already covered in class or those yet to be covered;

2. Topics must be expressed (written) in one or two sentences; and

3. Topics must be discussed and approved by your tutor, and a presentation date must be determined.

Tutorial presentations should not simply be based on material covered in the lecture. Instead, they should be framed in such a manner that allows the students to investigate concepts outlined in the lecture further. Examples of possible topics may be:

A case study of a private or public (i.e. Police, ATO, ASIC, etc.) organisation which has had problems in their governance, how these were overcame and what lessons may be learnt from this; or

A case study of a national or international organisation which has attempted to enact ethics practices into their business, how they did this, what were the risks involved in this transition and how it has changed the way they do business; or

A detailed overview of the ethical theories covered in class, a discussion of their advantages and disadvantages of each with reference to examples and making a case for the adoption of one of these in business practices.

The above are simply examples of the types of issues that students may discuss in their presentation. You may discuss any topic from the unit so long as it is framed in a way which shows you have investigated material beyond the lecture notes and students are encourage to make up their own topics by way of using the above as guidance.

Additional Required

In addition to the above requirements, groups must:

1. Give a 10 minute presentation on their choose topic.

2. Prepare a two (2) page typed summary for their tutor which contains the presenters names/student ID's, the topic and an overview of the presentation.

3. Prepare PowerPoint slides to accompany their presentation.

4. Be prepared to answer any questions in relation to their chosen topic.
