Getting Started: Developing Awareness of the Code of Ethics in Your Chosen Field

1. Identify your chosen profession (psychologist, educator, counselor, police or probation officer, etc.).

2. Go online to search for and find the ethical standards for your chosen profession. Explore the many resources found at this site. Save a copy of the standards, and record the URL.

3. Begin to compile an ethics portfolio in which the first entry is a copy of the ethical standards for your profession.

Your paper should conform to APA guidelines, which means that it should be properly formatted, include a cover page and references page. For more information on APA format, see apastyle.org.
