General Diagnostic Model: Discuss the three components of the model

According to this current readings, the general diagnostic model used to examine the working relationships of people in organizations, groups, and individuals is the open systems model, which includes three components:

1. inputs from the environment
2. transformations based on social and technical processes
3. outputs based on what is returned to the environment.

No matter how big or how small the system being examined, the three components are included, and their effectiveness is determined by their alignment or their fit. For example, a technology company that must keep up with the fast pace of technology and competition may have a top-down hierarchy that does not "fit" with its inputs and its need for outputs. REAL LIFE APPLICATION: Provide an example of moving through this general diagnostic model for an organization, group, or individual being examined. Please discuss each of these three steps, as well as their effectiveness in the current system.
