Both public and private healthcare organizations need to have a strong understanding of the needs of their community. Community needs can vary from one community to another. For example, a community in the northern part of the nation may experience long winters and high incidences of cold and flu, where more temperate parts of the United States may not have the same problems. Community healthcare leaders need to have an understanding of the trends that impact the nation as a whole and the trends that are specific to their community.
