Forensic odontology is use to determines and helps in a murder or homicide case and establish an examination of the individual. In the article, "Experimental studies of forensic odontology to aid in the identification process" by Susmita Saxeona, Preeti Sharma, and Nitin Gupta (2010), states forensic odontology also refers to forensic dentistry that involves bite mark physical evidences and scientist use the bite mark to identify and compare the dental record of the victim or suspect. The forensic odontologist also use x-rays which are the best when comparing dental records to the person's teeth can determine if the teeth are the same (Susmita Saxeona, Preeti Sharma, and Nitin Gupta 2010). The author explains, every individual has unique teeth from other people. The forensic odontology can establish the age, race, DNA by using the teeth records (Saxeona, Sharma & Gupta, 2010). In the majority of the cases, where they are many bodies the forensic dentist receives a list of potential individual's dental records to define the bodies (2010). By using the dental record the forensics compare the dental record to the person's teeth and by comparing they find out the potential victim or suspect (Saxeona, Sharma & Gupta, 2010). Forensic odontologist works most of their time in a morgue due to examination of the mouth and the jaw and identifying the person. In addition, cases where the person has missing teeth the forensic odontologist can still find results of the identification of the person it might take due to the process but the results will be available (Saxeona, Sharma & Gupta, 2010). By using the salvia of the person can also determine the victim or suspects only if the person have criminal records or the family provide with the DNA (2010). Forensic odontology identifies the person (recognizable or nor recognizable) and analysis bite mark evidence, of child abuse, civil ligation and massacre in a criminal case (Saxeona, Sharma & Gupta, 2010). Forensic odontology has help in solving cases and identifying victim or suspect worldwide and as for today forensic odotonology technique has advance and has establish the process to be easy.
