For this assignment you will use sourcing all materials independently but can gather information from class lectures and other suggested sources, such as featured designers at AGideas. designers featured at an exhibition when on excursion. The designer must reflect individual student's specific pathway e.g. Graphic Design. Product Design and be a relevant contemporary designer
Details of assessment
The student will write an essay or report: Each student will be responsible for his or her individual work Research materials will be based on the following.
The essay or report must cover all of the following considerations
- All students written materials contained in this essay or report must be written authentically by the student (not plagiarized or copied from any other source . See the Harvard guide when using written and visual materials to show clearly a Bibliography of all resources used. (RMIT follow the Harvard guide to a Bibliography).
The lecturer will supply the Harvard guide.
- The essay or report will be submitted to the lecturer for assessment as instructed in the timeline for review and assessment, all work will be proof read for all spelling and grammatical errors.
- The essay or report must be submitted as a word document in A4 format
- Students must follow these guidelines. Select your design guru from an appropriate design area that you are interested in or intend to become a designer in. For example Graphic design; Product design; interior design; Furniture design; Photography; Industrial design; Building design; Architectural design
- Name the inspirational designer or design group and give a brief introduction to the history and background in a paragraph. You must not describe a detailed history of this designer or design group, as it is the work, its concept and technology of this designer or group that I want you to investigate.
- Describe in detail the style that identifies the designer or group
Explore the notion of why you have made this selection and analyze what it is about this form of design that befits you as a future designer and note any breaking technologies employed
What characteristics enable them to stand apart from other contemporary designers or groups
- Investigate what forms of inspiration including historical influences that have influenced the nature of this designer or designer group's work or products.
- Show the design process that the designer or designer group journey through in their exploration and resolution of their design outcomes , needs and/or their commercial products.
- Identify and show clearly in a range of visual references the historic source and their current applications in your designer's or design groups' work.
Produce a sketch or range of sketches from your own inspiration of this designer or design group that are aligned to the style of your choice.
