For this assignment, you will choose a hashtag surrounding a controversial issue, and you will use your exploration of the hashtag as a way to look at the issue from multiple perspectives. While you will look at the issue from many sides, you will need to make a claim of your own about the issue and support it throughout your essay. This essay will be research-based, and you will follow the structure explained below (with some flexibility allowed). You must use a minimum of six sources for your essay: 2 scholarly, 2 popular, and 2 uses of your hashtag in social media (tweets, facebook posts, instagram posts. etc).

Your paper and paragraphs will be structured in the following way (these are minimum requirements-you can do more):

1. Introduction with you claim
2. A paragraph giving background of your issue
3. Introdbction and explanation of counter claim 1 along with your response to counter claim 1 (minimum 1 paragraph)
4. Introduction and explanation of counter claim 2 along with your response to counterclaim 2 (minimum 1 paragraph)
5. Introdpction and explanation of your unique point 1 (minimum1 paragraph)
6. Introduction and explanation of your unique point 2 (minimum 1 paragraph)
7. Conclusion

You will approve your hashtag and issue with me before you get started. We will discuss all aspects of this assignment extensively in class. You're paper and all of your citations must follow APA format, which we will also discuss in class. Please follow the due dates on the syllabus. I have provided you with an example essay.
