Food Log Assignment

General Guidelines:

1. Keep an accurate record of everything you eat and drink for two days; one day must be a week day and one day must be a Saturday or Sunday. Record both the item and the approximate quantity on a piece of paper using a separate sheet for each day. Include these sheets with the rest of your assignment in the order listed below.

2. Analyze your food intake for both Day One (week day) and Day Two (weekend day)

3. To do this:

- Find a food tracker of your choosing

- Enter all food items for day one and day two

- Print out your food analysis from the website you chose

3. The following items are required for this assignment. Please put them in the following order:

1. Title page with name, class name and date. You can be creative with this if you want, but please don't feel that fancy pictures and letters and color are necessary.

2. Day One (week day) food log

3. Print out of food analysis from day one

4. Day Two (weekend day) food log

5. Print out of food analysis from day two

6. Answers to the questions (typed, spell-checked, grammar-checked, proofread, etc.)

Answer the following questions. Be thorough (At least one FULL page).

1. Compare your average caloric intake with the recommended amount. If the actual amount is more than 200 calories different than the recommended amount, explain it. If your actual amount is within 200 calories, explain that too (just lucky or do you make an effort to calculate your calories?)

2. Did you meet the recommendations suggested by the food tracking site? Note areas of strengths and areas of weakness as determined by these guidelines.

3. Identify the two main strengths of your nutrient intake based the analysis of both days. Why are these strengths for you?

4. Identify the main weaknesses of your nutrient intake based on the analysis of both days. Are there any long-term implications?

5. Compare the two days. Discuss why there are differences or similarities. Describe how your daily routine impacts your eating habits.

6. Realistically, what changes, if any, will you consider adopting based on information you gained from this project or from class discussions?
