Prompt:

Part I: How does Ongka'sMoka illustrate the principles (and limitations) that underlie the exercise of power and leadership in his community (the Kawelka)? Would his style of leadership be recognizable to the Maisin?

Part II: Would Ongka's style of leadership be recognizable in the U.S. today? Do we have similar institutions or practices in the political realm? What is it about how power and politics are organized in our society that would make a similar style of leadership effective or not effective (or-make sense or not make sense)?

General advice for a successful paper:

1) State your main ideas/arguments clearly and concisely.

2) Draw on concrete evidence from the chapter (and other sources if using) to support your arguments. Be as detailed as possible given the space constraints-refer to specific people, events or concepts and use local terms where appropriate.

3) Be as specific as possible in your wording-instead of talking about Maisin "traditional spirit beliefs" make it clear which types of spirits you are talking about. Likewise, we hear about at least two distinct denominations of Christianity in this chapter, along with variations in how they are practiced-be clear about who, what and when.
