Organizations have stakeholders, such as owners, managers, employees, customers, and suppliers, whose interest in and influence upon the organization are significant factors. An organization's managers are given the authority and responsibility for leading and administering its operations in an ethical manner and should be held accountable for doing such. Identify all of the stakeholders of a well-known organization, such as the local gas station, bank, nonprofit organization or large corporation. Make a list of all the stakeholders. Discuss what interest and/or claim each of these stakeholders has in the organization. REAL LIFE APPLICATION: What level of influence do you think each stakeholder has in maintaining the ethical behavior of the organization? To whom is each stakeholder accountable? How can stakeholders be used to prevent unethical behavior?
