There are major security implications in allowing other countries to create technology and develop and produce technology that USA relies on for key infrastructure. Here is a recent example someone sent me regarding a perceived risk in several Chinese companies creating technology key to our cellular networks. (Ignore the political attack on Michigan's governor - I am more interested in the threat).
