Epidemiology Paper - 1948 Framingham Heart Study

This paper is worth a total of 100 points, since it is one of the classic cohort studies in Epidemiology and used universally for arriving at risk ratios in the development of cardiovascular heart disease (CHD). For this final paper discuss the 1948 Framingham Heart Study, including the two subsequent follow up studies and the impact they had on our society. Since this massive cohort study included many exposures related to the risk of development of CHD.

Choose one exposure using generalized risk ratios to expound on how they impact the cause of heart disease (causal relationship). The exposures are smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, lack of exercise, high cholesterol. The paper should include an main body, discussion/conclusion, and bibliography/references. The main body should be from 2-3 pages in length and should be in API format.

The beginning should include a brief synopsis of the topic and the effects it has had on our society.

The body of the paper should include all relevant information to the topic. You should try to be as specific as possible, but you do not have to go with excruciating details.

The discussion/conclusion should be a brief summary of the main body.

The audience will be your fellow colleagues, so you can assume they know the basics of epidemiology. Refrain from writing in the first person, e.g., I thought it was interesting that smoking had no causal relationship on development of CHD.

Sources: Your paper can contain multiple resources, but I require you find at least two recent, reputable resources.

Citations: You must cite your references in your article. General rule is to cite anything you had to look up or read to know, but if you recovered material from the textbook, you would not have to cite, as I will assume you read and learned it yourself. Only 5% of paper should be quoted.
