Business leaders who want their companies to be regarded as exemplary corporate citizens of which must keep their salaries and bonuses at "reasonable" rather than "obscene" levels and donate at least 10% of their taxable income to charitable and other worthy causes not only see that their companies operate ethically but also take a lead role in crafting a social responsibility strategy that positively improves the well-being of employees, the environment, the communities in which they operate, and society at large must insist that the company donate 5-10% of its pre-tax income to charitable causes and to extra efforts to protect the environment must insist that social and environmental metrics be at least co-equal in importance with financial and strategic metrics in evaluating the company's performance all of these.
