3. Explain the motif of "coming in from the cold" in The Spy Who Came in Front the Cold. What does it tell us about spying? About spy literature?

4. Explain how racism and sexism are combined (and used in spying) in M. Butterfly.

5. Explain how Robert Jordan's attitude toward life (and his job?) changes over the course of three days in For Whom the Bell Tolls.

6. What is the purpose of humor in spy literature? Compare or contrast Spy, Our Man in Havana, and Goldfinger.

7. Does the motivation of revenge in Atomic Blonde provide enough justification for the triple betrayal Lorrie Broughton pulls on the KGB and MI6? In other words, is she actually the "good guy" in this film?
