Dr. Jackson is starting a new travel program for students who would like to spend a semester abroad studying in the sciences in Australia or New Zealand. Initially he thought that he would not have to do much preparatory work with the students in regards to becoming used to being in either country because most people in both countries speak English.

You are his colleague and an expert in cross cultural psychology. One day you hear him talking to another professor in a slightly confused tone. Two students have asked to come home early because they do not feel like they are fitting in. The other professor is trying to explain that Dr. Jackson's program needs to better prepare students for their time abroad. You join in on the conversation and agree to provide Dr. Jackson with some information for students as a starting point.

Choose the type of training you find most appropriate for your target group [of your chosen scenario from above] (identify the objectives and potential participants!) and define the method(s) you would choose.

Conduct some background research on the important issues that need to be covered in such a module referring to cultural specific and/or workplace specific issues. Then put this together in a 3 page professional guideline for employees who are working with people of different cultural background(s). This can take the form of a brochure, mini-training manual, etc. (you can be creative with it, but I want it submitted as an actual file, MS Word or Power Point).

You need to include both the academic as well as cultural information in a format that is informative, appealing and understandable to laypeople. In addition, provide a 1 to 2 page (research and theory) justification for your practical guidelines (as an MS Word document). This should be suitable for researchers or evaluation boards to judge whether your guidelines are based on sound evidence.
