Evaluating and Choosing Data Analysis Techniques

This fourth unit offers one assessment - an online discussion or ‘Shared Activity', taking place on the Discussion Forum. This is worth 10% of the overall module grade.

For this assignment, you will choose data analysis techniques and formulate a data collection and analysis plan.

To prepare for this Shared Activity:

You are required to make an initial post to the Shared Activity by Day 7.
- Review Units 1 and 2 Shared Activities and your Unit 3 Project, in this module, to ensure that your plan aligns to all components of your Research Proposal and will enable you to answer your research question.
- Identify two examples of a management research article, such as ones from your Critical Literature Review, and evaluate and critically compare the data collection methods used.

To complete this Assignment:
Write a 500-word post:
- Define your data collection and analysis plan.
- Provide a rationale that explains how your plan supports your research question and purpose and how it fits with your methodology and methods. Are there alternative analysis tools or strategies that you considered? If so, explain why you did not include them in your plan.
- Describe your chosen approach to data analysis for your research question, including the following:
-
o Explain how this data analysis approach will help answer your research question.
o Discuss how this data analysis approach is appropriate for the type of data you will be collecting and how it will ensure the validity and reliability (if appropriate) of your results.
o Identify strategies you might use to present the results of this type of data analysis.
o Identify the challenges you foresee in interpreting and making inferences with this approach to data analysis.
Be sure to include references to all sources in Harvard Referencing Style.

Assignment 2:

Respond to at least two colleagues' posts by commenting on the relationship between data collection, data analysis and interpreting and presenting research findings.

You should aim to engage with and extend the academic discussion in a sensitive and professional way. Aim for at least two (2) posts of minimum 250 words each.

Looking Ahead

In Unit 4, you critically analyzed data collection techniques, including different tools and strategies for data collection. You also examined and chose the most appropriate methodology for your research question and completed your Shared Activity on these topics.

In Unit 5, you will carefully consider and integrate all ingredients to your Management
Research Proposal. You will integrate your literature review including your data analysis and presentation techniques to use in your Project.
