1. Discuss the societal values as reflected by the assigned reading for the week. This week, your readings focused on the societal values ranging from the treatment of women to the role of the family to the structure of the south. What do these works tell us about the societal values during the time in which the stories were written? What point of view does the author take concerning these societal issues?
